Meet Sketchy Brett

Sketchy Brett’s work is grounded in Africa — its people, its wildlife, its raw beauty.

Raised in South Africa and shaped by overland journeys through the continent, both as a wide-eyed child and a curious adult, Brett’s charcoal artworks capture the soul of a landscape that refuses to be tamed.

His African tribal portraits honour the individuality, adornment, and spirit of Africa’s people. His wildlife pieces are dynamic and alive, forged from first-hand experience in the bush.

Horses appear throughout his work. Brett’s horses are a study in strength and spirit.

Beyond charcoal, Brett explores sensual human forms, layered wooden artworks inscribed with calligraphy, and clay sculptures enriched with African beadwork, tactile, expressive pieces that blur the line between artefact and emotion.
